Landscaper Struck By Car, Seriously Injured In Summit

An 84-year-old landscaper was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a car in the morning Thursday, Sept. 15 in Summit, authorities said.

The man was working at a nearby property when he was struck between Summit and Morris avenues at Walnut Street around 10 a.m., local police said.

He was transported to Morristown Medical Center by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad.

The driver of the vehicle, also a Summit resident, was going south on Summit Avenue toward Morris Avenue when they struck the man, who was crossing the street in front of Paul Ippolito Memorial. 

The driver remained on the scene and are cooperating with police. The incident is under investigation by the Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau.
